CCR Data Expansion

Office PhotoHi-tech business is booming at Minton Distribution Park in Amesbury with the expansion of direct mail company CCR Data Ltd. The company moved into new premises at part of the NAAFI site off London Road. And among the first visitors was Salisbury MP Robert Key, who spoke of his delight at seeing the building back in use and offering jobs to the local community. CCR Data opened at Old Sarum Airfield in 1996, expanding its capacity two years later. But the move to the Minton Distribution Park at Amesbury allows the company to find room for millions of people – on computers. Its customers include the Conservative Party – with a pre-election order – and top name companies including Polo Ralph Lauren and The Royal Festival Hall, travel companies and fashion houses.

CCR Data helps companies target the right people through mailshots, explained Edward Spicer, managing partner with former school friend, Henry Sykes. They maintain companies’ databases, keeping them up to date to avoid duplication and mistakes, mailing direct from CCR Data and running call centres’ services. It is also an accredited user of the Royal Mail national change of address list. ” We’re very pleased with our new home”, said Mr Spicer. “It’s a lot better than an aircraft hangar !” Direct mailing company CCR has taken two new investors on board to enable it to boost its level of service to existing customers and fund expected new growth during the coming year.

The firm, which operates from Sarum Business Park at Old Sarum Airfield, says it is looking forward to investing heavily in new IT personnel and its sales team. CCR has come a long way in a short time. Not so long ago, directors Henry Sykes and Edward Spicer and Mr Sykes’s wife, were hand stuffing envelopes late into the night and sleeping on mail bags in the Old Sarum hangar. Now it employs a core team of nine, including production account handling and IT staff, plus a team of 20 temporary workers. Together they are capable of dispatching up to 50,000 pieces of mail a day.
